All the single ladies (and men)

Some brides are opting out of the traditional garter toss and replacing it with an alternative.

Here are some options if you'd rather not let your husband remove your garter in front of all your guests.

Line up all your single male guests and...

Toss the boutonniere: Instead of tossing a garter... how about tossing another important part of the wedding ensemble? The groom could throw his boutonniere or you could have him undo his necktie and toss it to the crowd.

Toss a gift: Toss anything that a man would like to receive as a gift (like a tie or pair of gloves). Make sure it isn't hard or dangerous.

Toss the black book: The groom will toss his little black book of phone numbers.

Balloon drop: Blow up a bunch of balloons and put a ribbon or other lightweight item into one of the balloons. Secure the balloons in a location near the ceiling and drop them on the single men. The guy who finds the concealed item will be the next to pop the question.

Race to the bride: Scatter a few scarves on a table on one side of the room. Line up all the single guys on the other side of the room. Have the men race to the table pick up the scarf and take it to the bride.

Musical chairs: This is a spin-off of the child's version of musical chairs. Set up the chairs in a circle and have the single men play until there's only one man sitting.
